Honors College 101 Canvas Course Redesign

As both a Project Manager and an Instructional Designer, I spearhead the redesign of an online orientation course for the incoming first-year Honors College students. Working alongside Chelsea McManus and Jessica Rasmussen, we focused on enhancing students' engagement, support their independent goal setting, and help them better navigate and access academic and professional development resources. The final course was built with learner-centered design, multimedia integration, and accessibility in mind, all of which are aligned with Quality Matters standards.

    Digital Storytelling: The Widow's Journey

The Widow’s Journey is a deeply personal digital storytelling project that tells the story of how I have moved through grief, resilience and renewal after the loss of my husband. This, short film uses Adobe Premiere Rush to create visuals, narration and music to share a message of healing and hope. Intended for people who can relate to the challenges I describe, the project not only demonstrates my skills in multimedia production and narrative design but also expresses an idea of the power of storytelling for empathy, education and transformation.

Inclusive eLearning: Accessible Education for All

Inclusive eLearning: Accessible Education for All is a team collaboration developed with Nelson Hernandez, Ana Lujan, Chelsea McManus, and Brandon Perales. Our goal was to develop an open-source eLearning platform using Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles and assistive technologies integrated into it. In this role, I developed a prototype and crowdfunding campaign to increase accessibility in online education for students with disabilities while serving as the project manager. The project demonstrates my expertise in instructional design, integrating accessibility features, working in teams, and creating digital content. I am passionate about ensuring that all learners have equitable and inclusive learning experiences.

  • Flyer titled “Transforming Online Education: An Inclusive eLearning Initiative” for AccessEd, highlighting the need for accessible online learning for students with disabilities

Inclusive eLearning: Accessible Education for All Flyer

The team created this flyer through our crowdfunding project which aimed to improve online education for students with disabilities. I worked on the project by developing the content for the flyer which presented the problem and solution and explained the social impact of our proposed platform AccessEd. The document presents our mission statement and financial requirements and project schedule and essential features and reward options for backers in a well-organized manner. The flyer showcases my abilities in instructional design and accessibility advocacy and collaborative project development while showing my dedication to technology-enhanced learning that includes everyone.

Documentary Project: Learning 2.0, The Impact on Student Learning

The collaborative documentary received my involvement through project management and multimedia content creation. Our team maintained clear communication through Zoom and GroupMe and email platforms for three Sunday meetings for effective task management. I carried out and recorded interviews with my children and another teacher to obtain vital first-hand information for the project. I delivered all voiceover narration for the documentary which provided unity and understanding to the final product. The final video editing responsibility fell to others, but my efforts focused on content collection and project logistics and narrative development.
